Aquila

The d'Aigle Aquila

The instrument you are looking at is a prototype. The production model will be about one pound lighter, and the wood purfling (bubinga on this instrument) will be accented in black. Other minor changes will not be physically apparent.

This 'harp is 2 inches longer and 5/8 inch deeper than our standard size autoharps. The width is the same. It is very loud, and very resonant. This one has cherry back, sides and trim, and cedar top. The size comparisons are with our standard Desert Rose.
It is currently being sent to a few players around the country for review.

The scale length, which is the length of the strings between the bridges, is the same as our TLC and Desert Rose.
The anchor end bridge is 2" out on the top, instead of being butted up to where the frame is. This allows the energy of the strings to transfer more directly to the top, which is the main resonator, or "speaker" for the instrument. Also, the extra two inches increases the size of the sound chamber.
The body of the Aquila is about 5/8" deeper, which increases the size of the sound chamber by quite a bit.
The result is a highly resonant and loud autoharp. The sound is quite different, not just louder.

You can jam with any number and type of acoustic instruments in much greater comfort, without having to strain to be heard. You will be able to blend in as well as take a lead with a much increased dynamic range.

The Aquila will be introduced with a base price of $2,850.00. We are currently building a small group, and we are taking orders for them.
